Template Display Rules are very powerful and widely used in corridor modeling workflows. However, Display Rules are only available for components. We would like to extend this functionality to the Null Points. This would open new possibilities for templates / corridors. For example Display Rules could drive (through parametric constraints) display of special features such as 3d road markings, safety barriers, fences etc, i.e. any feature using line styles with physical widths or complex 3d line styles. The display of these features could be controlled independently from other components in the template.
Currently to achieve this, we need to use “dummy” components that include normal template points defining these special 3d features. Display Rules assigned to the “dummy” components drive the display of the special features. This unfortunately require additional elements in templates and adds complexity. Other elements created by the “dummy” components (component mesh and a second string) also need to by un-displayed in the corridors.
Please note we have already enhancement request #1098451 logged for this through SR #7001081495.
