Calculate the area of survey chains if they are enclosed shapes

Survey chains (when enclosed) have a reported area value of zero. This is seen in the properties for the geometry, and also if you try to read the area through an item type using the expression This.GetElement().EnclosedArea.

Our construction staff likes to take field measurements using survey equipment and import that data into ORD to validate quantities that were placed. It would be helpful to be able to create microstation reports that report on the feature code, area, perimeter, etc of the survey chains.

I usually just use the ORD area measurement command to find simple areas. Areas can be done individually or by fence or selection sets. Then I add the area info to the .dgn of the surveyed shapes for our records.

I suppose an actual report could be useful also.
